Public Statement Regarding Sewer and Public Safety Billing
Public Statement Regarding Sewer and Public Safety Billing
The City of Shady Cove is aware of concerns regarding sewer and public safety billing, including changing balances, account classifications, duplicate charges, and amounts appearing after a prior zero balance.
These concerns are being taken seriously.
City staff are currently reviewing sewer billing, payment postings, account classifications, historical balances, and the interaction between the City’s utility and financial systems. This work is part of a broader effort to bring the City’s financial records and systems back to a substantially accurate, reconciled, and reliable position.
Some reported issues may involve historical account activity that predates the current administration. Rather than making unsupported changes, staff are tracing account activity back to statements, payments, adjustments, and applicable City fees so that any corrections are properly documented.
Residents who believe their account may be incorrect are encouraged to contact City Hall and provide any supporting records they may have, including prior statements, receipts, cancelled checks, or electronic payment confirmations.
The City’s goal is straightforward: accurate accounts, properly applied charges, reliable payment records, and a billing process residents can understand and trust.
